Meaghan Myers is a visual artist based in Southwest Missouri. Living in Minneapolis, Minnesota for many years, she completed foundational coursework at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and holds a Bachelor of Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota. Returning to her home state of Missouri in 2025 marked a turning point, when she began dedicating herself intently to her work as a painter. Her current figurative work in oils explores body language, identity, and the familial relationships we each carry with us throughout our lives.
Using oil paint as a medium for exploration, I investigate how identity is physically manifest through familial relationships. Drawing from my own family archives, I translate subjects from vintage photographs into larger-scale works. I aim to explore the elements of posture and presence that define a person's expression. Through the study of multiple figures, I explore the friction between shared environments and emerging individuality, seeking the moment a collective history becomes personal.
